Founded in 2009, Duo SVARA is formed by Eugène Carmona (piano) and Ken Lila Ashanti (violin)
EUGÈNE CARMONA
Born in Kiev, Ukraine, Eugène Carmona began his piano studies at ten years old in Paris. A few years later, he won the Steinway Competition in Paris. He pursues his studies with eminent teachers such as Claudio Chainquin and Igor Lazko (who formed him with Russian school techniques).
Furthermore, Eugène Carmona works with Gabriel Tacchino - the unique student of Francis Poulenc- and Abdel Rahman El Bacha - First prize of Queen Elizabeth's Competition. Since 2011, he works with Pascal Godart. He obtained his master degree at La Haute École de Musique de Lausanne. Instantly after his arrival in Lausanne, Eugène Carmona was invited to teach in l'Ecole de Musique du Mont-sur-Lausanne and shortly becomes the Adjoin Director. He pursues equally his master studies of Conducting in La Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne. He works with many conductors ,such as Philippe Cambreling, the winner of the concours international de direction d'orchestre de Besançon and Florian Ziemen. Ever since, Eugène Carmona conducts many projects for orchestra and choirs in Switzerland and France. As the conductor of Fanfare d'Estavayer-le-lac, He also forms the Sinfonia Orchestra based in Lausanne, Switzerland. Eugène Carmona is actively sharing his musical experiences in solo, chamber music and orchestral concerts, festivals and pedagogic activities. His list of repertoires spread widely from baroque to today's music as a soloist, accompaniment, and ensemble piano player. |

Born in Jakarta, Indonesia, Ken Lila Ashanti began her musical studies with piano at the age of 3 with her mother then in Yayasan Pendidikan Musik (YPM) Music Conservatory Indonesia for 12 years. Inspired by her violinist grandfather, she started playing violin at the age of 13 with Inge Karjadi in YPM music conservatory where she got first prizes and prizes for outstanding performances. In 2003, she pursues her violin studies with Adidharma Widjaja. After only 4 years of violin studies, she was nominated as a concertmaster in Twilite Youth Orchestra Indonesia where she debut her solo performance and a year later she represented Indonesia in South East Asian Youth Orchestra (SAYOWE) in Thailand as one of the first violinists. During these years, she was a member of professional orchestras such as Nusantara Symphony Orchestra (NSO) conducted by Hikotaro Yazaki.
These experiences has given her an opportunity to meet Atsuko Watanabe and study with her in the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Departemental du Val de Bièvre, Paris in 2008. A year later, she obtained her diploma and during years later she works with many eminent teachers such as Ivry Gitlis, Dong Suk Kang, Pierre Amoyal, Christian Altenburger, Marienne Piketty, Amandine Beyer, Valery Gradow, Viktor Pikayzen, György Pauk, Itzhak Rashkovsky, Gunars Larsens, Mayumi Seiler, Benjamin Schmid, Monika Urbaniak and Mauricio Fuks. She obtained her master of music degree at La Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne, Switzerland. During her musical journey in Europe, she has won many competitions such as International Music Competition Leopold Bellan (Paris, 2011) and International Music Competition Vittoria Caffa Rigetti (Italy, 2012). She participates in many orchestra projects, such as Rhone Alpes Opera, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Bienne Symphony Orchestra, New European Philharmonic Orchestra. Furthermore, she performed in several Music Festivals such as Festival Progetto Martha Argerich in Lugano 2011 and Festival Cully Classique 2013 and 2014. Ken Lila Ashanti is actively performing in solo, chamber music and orchestral concerts. Her repertoire ranges from the baroque period to the contemporary. Besides performing, she dedicates equally her passion to pedagogic activities. She is currently teaching in Conservatoire de l'Ouest Vaudois, Switzerland. |
